We are hugely proud of what we've been able to achieve with our Featherlight wheels. The overall concept was to design a high performance wheel strong enough to ride day in day out - no matter what the conditions. Over the past few years, in what has become a flooded market, we have designed lightweight, aerodynamic and durable wheels for today's cycling climate, utilising the most advanced design and building technologies available, to not only produce some of the best boutique wheels on the market, but also to set ourselves apart from your average 'off the rack' wheelset.

Manufacturing

'Setting oursleves apart'

Most manufactures use pre-preg carbon sheets bought from a third party using various different resins throughout the construction of the rim and braking surface. 

We purchase the carbon in single strands fibres and then weave the carbon fibre strands in house with an exclusive patented 220 degree resin with the only carbon fibre weaving machine like it in China. This gives us complete control over the quality, strength and density of our carbon. We use our high quality resign throughout the entirety of construction - not just the braking surface. 

Then, unlike most manufactures, we do not lay the carbon sheets by hand. This is done by a Computational Auto Carbon Wrapping machine - which basically means, the carbon is cut and layed with a computer analysis machine that enables us to control the layering, weight and density - precisely. Which makes for a perfectly balanced overall rim. 

We then use the same EPS (expanded polystyrene) monocoque moulding techniques in our frames using a continuous layer of carbon to optimise strength using precise and various temperatures during the long curing process to produce, what we believe is the best boutique wheel on the market.

Design

Our toroidal shaped rim design has made our wheels stiffer, stronger and more aerodynamic. The wider rim profile has enabled us to only only strengthen it's durability, but also improve the aerodynamic performance of the wheel. The wider rim increases overall stiffness, while also enabling the tyre to take on a wider shape, increasing stability without compromising rolling resistance. This wider profile, being the distinguishing feature of the wheels, has allowed us to optimise the overall toroidal shape optimising performance in strong crosswinds, increasing stability and handling, it has also improved the aerodynamic advantages and overall performance of the wheel.

Build

We use a computer analysis machine to calculate the exact angle of the spokes. The spokes holes are drilled at the precise angle for our White Industries hubs, for the spokes to be laced directly straight. This enhances overall strength and eliminates weakspots. We have coupled with two of the most recognised brands in the cycling world to complete our wheels - White Industries and Sapim.

All our wheels are hand built with Sapim CX Ray spokes and brass internal nipples. Our wheels are then computer analysed and tested so each spoke is at the correct tension. Using internal brass nipples enables marginal aerodynamic gains and keeps the nipples away from the elements to avoid oxidisation.
